Each spring, the Associate Dean of General Education and the Program Manager of ePortfolio begin planning the assessment of the General Education Learning Outcomes. After deciding on which outcomes to assess, a sample of ePortfolios are pulled and faculty, staff, and administrators are recruited to participate. We then provide a brief training on the process to complete the assessment by mid-summer. After presenting the results to the General Education Committee and Associate Deans Council, a report is written and published on this site.

We encourage faculty on the General Education Committee participate in assessment if they are available to do so. Full-time faculty and adjuncts across the college are also encouraged to participate in the assessment process. Chairs and Associate Deans may also reach out to faculty for their participation. Time and Effort logs are usually needed to pay faculty and adjuncts at the current rate, so it is important to communicate your participation with your supervisor or the Associate Dean of your department. Faculty looking to use their time in the assessment as service to the college or for professional development should inquire with their department Chair or Associate Dean.
