Positive Psychology (Online)
This course introduces students to the growing field of positive psychology, including the study of human strengths, values and characteristics that contribute to the well-being of the individual. Learn how to use the "science of happiness" to nurture a life of emotional thriving.

This 30- hour course is completely online, and most students complete it within 8 weeks. As a result of this training students will be able to distinguish between pleasure, happiness, eudaimonia and hedonism, explain and implement the process of change, reflect on values, spirituality, and the concept of resilience and how these impact positivity and well-being, and recognize how to form friendships and improve existing relationships.
This course introduces positive psychology-based approaches for improving connection with family, friends and romantic partners. The importance of relationships to the well-being of the individual is vital. Healthy relationships with others may be the single most important source of life satisfaction and emotional well-being across age and culture.
This course is designed for those who want to learn to communicate more effectively with difficult individuals. Discover how to deal with others in pressured situations and learn techniques to avoid getting caught up in defensiveness and other dysfunctional communication styles.
This course is elective.
Discover what constitutes addictive thinking, the biological origins of addictions and different types of addictions. This course reviews strategies and skills to overcome addictive thinking patterns within and outside of common addictions.

Mindfulness and meditation have been used for centuries to create healthy mind states. Growing research shows just how profound their affects may be. This course provides an introduction to the science and practice of mindfulness in the context of mental well-being. Students will practice various forms of mindfulness and meditation as well as other stress management techniques. By the end of the course, students will have built knowledge of how stress manifests in their lives and will have established a toolbox of coping skills to mitigate its deleterious effects.
This course is elective.
In this course, students will learn about topics surrounding the “Positive Psychology of Trauma”. This will include the post-traumatic growth (PTG) and emotional resilience that can help individuals move forward from tragic circumstances to become successful in their lives.

No, the class will not "meet" online at a certain time or meet on campus. Students will be required to self pace throughout the course. There will be exercises that need to be completed each week, discussion questions to respond to etc.
